Pro-Gaddafi Forces Resist Despite Confused Reports

Pro-Gaddafi Forces Resist Despite Confused Reports

Tripoli, Sep 21 (Prensa Latina) Those loyal to leader Muammar Gaddafi continued controlling Sirte on Wednesday and Bani Walid, despite heavy attacks by anti-government forces and NATO, which is issuing reports with deliberate distortions about the Libyan military.

The members of the National Transitional Council (NTC) have made no significant progress in Sirte, GaddafiâÖs hometown, or in Bani Walid, due to continuing resistance in these areas.

Witnesses quoted by alternative media noted that the opposition forces assembled more men and positioned more tanks, armored vehicles and other arsenals near these cities, always with NATO air support.

The insurgents claimed to have made "some progress" in Bani Walid, saying that after a day of combat, they were controlling "the largest part" of Sabha.

Expectations were growing in the capital about the political future of the country after an NTC leader announced in New York that a new government would be established within seven to 10 days after the failed attempt over the weekend.
