CSTO countries start major war games

The Center-2011 strategic military exercises kick off on territories of Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan on Monday, a Russian Defense Ministry spokesman said.

He added that at least 12,000 servicemen from Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) countries are set to take part in what he said will be the biggest war games in 2011.

Russian security agencies' task forces will also participate in the drills, due to wrap up in early October.

The CSTO brings together Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
