Toyota's president has apologized to customers about recent recalls, but says cars produced by the Japanese automaker are safe to drive.

"I would like to take this opportunity to apologize from the bottom of my heart for causing many of our customers concern after the recalls across several models in several regions," Akio Toyoda, the grandson of Toyota's founder, told a news conference in Nagoya, Japan.

UK firm pleads guilty to exporting Boeing to Iran

Balli Aviation Ltd., a UK based company, pleaded guilty to criminal charges involving the illegal export of commercial Boeing 747 aircraft from the US to Iran.

The plea agreement requires a civil penalty of $15 million, of which $2 million will be suspended as long as no additional export control violations are reported. Additionally, Balli is denied export privileges for five years.

Ford offers repair for brake glitch

An extract made from one of the main antioxidants found in green tea may be able to slow the progression of prostate cancer, according to a study conducted by researchers from Louisiana state University and published in Cancer Prevention Research, a journal of the American Association for Cancer Research.

Researchers gave 26 prostate cancer patients between the ages of 41 and 68's four capsules of day of Polyphenon E, an extract of epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) made by Polyphenon Pharma. Ten US citizens arrested in Haiti for trying to take 33 children out of the country after last month's earthquake have been charged with child kidnapping.

The ten people, most of whom are members of an Idaho-based church group, were sent back to jail on Thursday after a closed court hearing in the Haitian capital Port-au-Prince.

Israel stole 2 billion dollars from Palestinian workers: 40-year deception exposed

A 6.0-magnitude earthquake centered off the Pacific coast has shaken northern California, according to the US Geological Survey.

Thursday's quake was initially measured at 6.0 on the Moment Magnitude Scale and was only seven miles (11 kilometers) deep, AFP reported.

UN unsure if Gaza probes set up

The UN secretary general has said he cannot determine if the Israelis and Palestinians have complied with a UN demand to carry out credible and independent investigations into alleged war crimes during the war in Gaza more than a year ago.

Ban Ki-moon told the UN General Assembly in a report released on Thursday that both sides were still looking into the allegations made in a September report by Richard Goldstone, a South African judge and former international war crimes prosecutor.

Missile interceptors headed to Romania

Romania's top defense body approved a plan by Washington on Thursday to deploy interceptor missiles in the Black Sea state as part of a missile shield to protect Europe, President Traian Basescu said. A federal task force report being released today reveals that police want a national web interface linking police computers with those of Internet and e-mail providers so cops can instantly access the emails and records of suspects. They want to be able to "exchange legal process requests and responses to legal process" through an encrypted, police-only "nationwide computer network. Seems like there's lots of potential for abuse - don't forget we just learned that the FBI got thousands of phone records from ordinary Americans by citing nonexistent emergencies.

The Department of Defense will "follow a set of defined policy and legal procedures that are very carefully observed" in the use of lethal force against U.S. citizens who make the mistake of joining organizations created by the CIA and the Mossad.

The CIA created al-Qaeda from scratch in Afghanistan. Hamas was created by Mossad in order to undermine the Palestinian Liberation Organization. Both countries have long and sordid histories of creating terrorist organizations for political purposes.
