Iran: Report by activists of Militant on the clashes in Tehran on Ashura, 27th December 2009We publish an eyewitness report of the events that unfolded on Ashura, 27th December 2009, in Tehran. They give a taste of the sheer determination of the protestors in the face of brutal police repression. What is most significant is the fact that many of the police were "arrested" by the protestors who took their shileds and uniforms from them. As the comrade says, "the rebellious atmosphere that I saw does not want to go home!"

12,000 Tekel workers to go on death fast in the heart of Turkey? We received this article from a reader of marxist.com about the ongoing struggle of the Tekel workers in Turkey. Tekel is a tobacco and alcohol producing company which has announced the closure of plants affecting 12,000 workers. This is a very militant struggle and desreves the attention and support of workers around the world.

The scandal involving the wife of the First Minister has revealed the utter hypocrisy of the politicians who run Stormont. The workers of the North require a fighting working class political representation and not the present bunch of parasites.
